About PDF Toolkit

PDF Toolkit is a set of nine free PDF tools that run inside your web browser. Each one handles a single everyday document task, from combining files for an application to getting an oversized scan under an upload limit.

Why this site exists

Most PDF chores are occasional. Someone needs one attachment instead of four, or a single page out of a thirty-page contract, and the usual answers are installing desktop software that will be opened twice a year, or handing a private document to a service in exchange for an email address. Browsers can now do this work themselves, on the device you are already holding, so PDF Toolkit simply exposes that capability through a plain interface with no steps in between.

The PDF tasks supported

  • Merge PDF — Combine several PDFs into one document in an order you set.
  • Split PDF — Extract chosen pages, or break a document into separate one-page files.
  • Compress PDF — Reduce the size of a PDF so it fits an email or upload limit.
  • JPG to PDF — Turn photographs and scans into a single PDF, one image per page.
  • PDF to JPG — Render chosen PDF pages as JPG images at the quality you pick.
  • PDF to Word — Rebuild the text of a PDF as an editable .docx file.
  • Word to PDF — Convert a .docx document into a PDF that looks the same everywhere.
  • Rotate PDF — Correct sideways or upside-down pages and save the orientation.
  • Add Page Numbers — Number pages, choosing position, starting number and text size.

Why the tools are free

Because the processing happens on your device, running these tools costs almost nothing beyond serving the pages themselves. Hosting is covered by the advertising shown around the tools. There is no paid tier held back, no watermark to remove and no export cap waiting behind a subscription.

How privacy is approached

Every tool on this site reads your file in the browser, builds the result in memory and hands it to your downloads. No document is uploaded for processing, so there is no copy to store, read or delete afterwards, and reloading the tab clears what you selected.

That claim applies to file contents only, and it is worth being precise about the rest. Loading any website involves ordinary technical data — your request reaches a hosting provider, which sees things like an IP address and a browser type — and these pages also use Google Analytics for anonymous visit counts and Google AdSense to show adverts. Those services never receive your documents, their names or their contents. The privacy policy sets this out in full.

What to expect

These are practical tools, not a replacement for professional PDF software. They are honest about their edges: conversions rebuild content rather than reproduce a layout pixel for pixel, encrypted files have to be unlocked in your own reader first, and very large documents depend on the memory your device can spare — a laptop handles hundreds of scanned pages more comfortably than an older phone. Each tool page explains its own limits before you start, so nothing is discovered only after a download.

Who runs it and how to get in touch

PDF Toolkit is an independently run website, not a company with offices or a support team. If a tool fails on one of your files, a description sounds wrong, or you would like a task covered that is not here yet, the contact page is the way to reach the person maintaining it. Messages about a broken file are most useful when they mention the tool, the browser and roughly how large the document was.
